Sacramento Republic Power Soccer

What is Power Soccer?

Power soccer is an exciting and inclusive sport specifically designed for individuals who use power wheelchairs, though individuals who use manual wheelchairs can play as well by transferring into a power chair at a practice or tournament. Combining the strategy and energy of traditional soccer with accessibility, power soccer provides a unique and competitive environment for players with physical disabilities.

Power soccer is a team sport played on a regulation-sized basketball court. Players maneuver their power wheelchairs equipped with specialized footguards to pass, dribble, and shoot an oversized soccer ball. The objective is to score more goals than the opposing team within the two twenty minute halves, making it a dynamic game for both participants and spectators.

There are no age or gender categories. Participants include people with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, spinal muscular atrophy, arthrogryposis, limb difference, spina bifida, and other disabilities.

Our Team

Sacramento Republic Power Soccer is the power soccer division of Sacramento Republic FC and the only power soccer team in the Sacramento area. We have 2 squads, an entry level Academy squad for those who are developing their skills or can't commit to as much, and a Varsity level squad for those who are highly competitive and more committed. We compete in the United States Power Soccer Association and brought home a 2nd place trophy in the Founders conference in 2019 and a 3rd place trophy in the Champions conference in 2022.
